Sophie Devine's maiden T20I ton gives NZ series win

Picture
Sophie Devine once again was among the runs, this time with her maiden T20I century, as New Zealand overcame South Africa with ease to take an unassailable lead in the five-match series. Devine led a stunning batting display as New Zealand picked up a 69-run win in the fourth T20I with South Africa being bowled out for 102 in 17 overs on Monday (February 10).

Suzie Bates and skipper Devine shared a record second-wicket partnership for New Zealand in T20Is, adding 142, to put New Zealand in pole position. Cricket Betting Tips Devine continued her golden run with the bat, adding to her scores of 54*, 61 and 77 with a 65-ball 105, smashing three sixes and 12 fours in her knock, powering her side to an imposing 171/2 - her highest individual T20I innings. She was run out one ball short of the end of the innings, with Bates unbeaten on 47 off 46 balls.

South Africa, in response, didn't even come close to the target total, folding in just 17 overs after opting to chase as New Zealand's bowlers made merry in Wellington. Opener Lizelle Lee top-scored with 25, but no other batter really got going. Anna Peterson struck early denting South Africa's chase early, finishing with three wickets for the day, while Jess Kerr returned two. Despite a brief fightback in the middle overs, a flurry of wickets in the second-half reduced them from 70/3 to be bowled out for 102.

The teams now head to Dunedin for the final game of the series.

'I love five-day Tests, but my role isn't about making decisions based on what I love'

www.cricketbettingtipsfree.net Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts is bracing for "the biggest two years in the history of Australian cricket". There's the T20 World Cup later this year, for starters. "It's a lot of work for our organization and lots of work for the players, but we wouldn't change it for the world," he says. Excerpts from the interview... The story goes what when the ball-tampering scandal broke, you were in a train with a bag which had a CA logo on it. You turned it around so no one could see it... Yes. Having loved the game since I could walk, and having had so many experiences in the game and formed so many friendships, it was the first time that I hadn't felt proud to be involved. Literally, it was an unconscious thing to turn the bag around and not to display the logo. Was the public backlash that severe? It was significant. And it was magnified based on the landscape that we're living in, in terms of social ...
